THE INSULATED INNER SILL

PATENTED SYSTEM

In the context of building energy efficiency, an often overlooked but critically important element is the radiator heating system that is often located below windowsills, representing a significant source of heat loss. However, with Cover App's innovative insulated interior window sill, substantial improvements can be made without the need for costly structural work from the outside.

One of the main advantages offered by Cover App Indoor is the ability to reduce the thermal bridge between the radiator and the external window frame. This is achieved thanks to the insulation built into the sill. The upper part has an insulation thickness of 10 mm, while the lower part reaches 30 mm. In addition, the sill head is also insulated with a 20 mm insulation layer. This approach, in addition to interrupting the thermal bridge, provides a significant improvement in the thermal efficiency of the radiator and contributes to conside- tively reducing leakage.

Prior to the intervention, the surface temperature between the marble sill extrados and the under-window wall was only 9.75°C, well below the critical threshold of 13.2°C. This temperature disparity can promote the formation of condensation and mold, which are harmful to both the building structure and the health of the occupants. After installation of the insulated sill, surface temperature values increase significantly, exceeding the critical threshold and averting potential problems with condensation and mold.
